David McCallum - Head of Youth Development
David was appointed head of Youth Development at Queen's Park in October 2010. Below is a summary of his football career to date.
Playing Career
In August 1996 David signed his first full time professional contract (aged 18) for Motherwell FC. He played regularly for the reserves, an was selected for first team squads. July 1998 he signed for Stirling Albion FC on a Full Time contract. A highlight was scoring in Scottish Cup tie v Hibernian (which Stirling won 2-1). In July 2000 David signed for Partick Thistle FC (Part Time). During his time at Firhill he won the SFL 2nd Division and 1st Division in consecutive seasons and was the supporters Young Player of Year. Unfortunately he suffered serious knee injury in 2001 and was injured for most of 1st division campaign. In Jan 2003 –David signed for Queen's Park. He quickly realised what a wonderful club it was with the squad was for the most part created from players who had come through the youth system. Due to his knee injuries he retired from playing in October 2004.
Coaching
In Nov 2004 David joined the Youth system at Queen's and coached the U17. In Aug 2005 David was promoted to assistant Coach with the 1st team. During that time his achievements included: Wining promotion (Play-offs) 2006/2007, Beating Aberdeen in League Cup (Penalties) Aug 2006. David was appointed Reserve Team Coach. Finally in Oct 2010 David was appointed Head of Youth Development.
