Raith Rovers 2-1 Queen's Park
11th December 2011

Queen's travelled to Dalgety Bay Sports Centre as league leader to play second placed Raith Rovers. The 19s were forced in to make four changes to the team from the last outing to Livingston with Gibson, Coll, Robertson all injured and MacBeth serving a one match ban. This created spaces for two youngsters who have been performing exceptionally well with the 17s, Coyle making a start in our back four and Connolly starting on the bench.

Queen's started the game well and were creating chances with Ronald and Cochrane going close on a couple of occasions.

The 19s made the break through after 32mins when Duggan latched on to a defence splitting pass from Gebbie to round the keeper to put Queen's up one nil.

The 19s continued to take the game to Raith with Boyd and Whelan driving on from midfield. However as half-time approached some slack play cost Queen's dearly when they failed to press the ball and allowed the Raith fullback to strike from 30yds to level the score.

The coaching staff had a go at the team at half time as slackness towards the end of the half and allowing Raith to level at just before the break.

Queen's failed to stamp their authority on the game in the second half and Raith were on top as Queen's had too many players not playing to their potential.

Queen's were punished after a lack of concentration with Gebbie diving in and giving a needless free kick away 10yds into their half resulting with Raith taking a quick free kick which allowed them to catch the 19s not prepared when their wide left midfielder delivered. The unfortunate McMillan turning the ball into his own net to put Raith 2-1 up after 50mins.

Queen's huffed and puffed after that and went close through Duggan a couple of times but the damage was done and only had themselves to blame for the defeat.

Coaches commented after the game "We were a of great disappointment as the lack of desire, attitude and application had cost us dearly with the exception of the two youngsters from our 17s who performed to a high standard".
